(1) Labor Migration Strategy for Economic Growth in Pacific Island States
Challenge: Three Pacific Island States were selected for this World Bank funded project: Kiribati, Tonga and Vanuatu. All faced economic constraints due to high unemployment and underutilized labor resources. While international labor migration programs provided opportunities, there was no coordinated national strategy to maximize the benefits of migrant labor for skills development and economic reinvestment.
Solution: GG International developed a strategic labor migration framework, ensuring that each of the three independent states’ workforce benefited from international employment opportunities while strengthening the domestic labor market.
The initiative focused on:
- Skills Transfer & Workforce Development: Creating structured upskilling programs for returning workers.
